Originally woven in the late 19th century by William Morris (of Morris & Co). this tapestry is one of their most famous. Morris's expert use of colour and historical patterns make this a true classic. It's reminiscent of many wallpaper patterns Morris also developed for his firm.
The tapestry symbolises the growth and continuity of life.
A man of many tallents, William Morris (1834 - 1896) weaved his first tapestry in 1879, and went on to form a large tapestry works at Merton Abbey.
The 184x130cm version of this tapestry is composed of wool, all others are cotton.
Also available as a feather-filled woven cushion.
All our tapestries are woven in Flanders, on Jacquard Looms using high quality materials, and are lined with cotton on the back, with a tunnel for easy hanging (see our Hanging Rods section). Click here for more information about the tapestries.
