Based on the gothic fresco (painting on moist plaster surface) by Italian artist Giacomo Jaquerio, which can be found the baronal halls in Castello della Manta, a castle in Saluzzo, Italy in 1420.
The tapestry depicts part of the 'series of nine heroes and nine heroines', the most notable of which is Godfey of Bouillon (c. 1060) a medieval knight and leader of the First Crusade of Pope Urban II.
The picture shown doesn't reveal the detail of the gold thread, used in the characters clothing. The tapestry is machine woven in Flanders, using a process that is 200 years old.
All our tapestries are woven in Flanders, on Jacquard Looms using high quality materials, and are lined with cotton on the back, with a tunnel for easy hanging (see our Hanging Rods section). Click here for more information about the tapestries.
